No account needed!

Starting from April 2025, all Recurve IXI modules are pre-activated. Meaning, there is no need to create an account to activate your new tuning module. You can skip that step from the manual and the video and continue with the steps bellow.

1. Download the Recurve IXI Software

Start by downloading the PC software Recurve_IXI.exe After downloading, locate the file in your downloads folder. If you see a warning message about the file being from an unknown source, click on the arrow next to it and select "Keep Anyway". Once downloaded, open the file to begin installation. The setup process is straightforward — just follow the on-screen prompts, click “Next” when prompted, and agree to the terms and conditions. The installation will automatically download all necessary components. Depending on your internet speed, this may take a few minutes. Once the installation is complete, a Recurve logo will appear on your desktop. Double-click the icon to launch the software and proceed to the next step.

2. Connect the IXI Module

Take the Recurve IXI module out of its box. You'll find a USB-C cable stored beneath a hidden compartment in the packaging. Connect the IXI module to your vehicle's OBD port. A light on the device will illuminate, indicating a successful connection. In the Recurve software, select “Register Tool” and follow the prompts. If the device is not detected, unplug and reconnect it or restart the software. Once registered, the software will identify the device, and you can proceed with vehicle setup.

3. Read the ECU

Once the IXI module is connected, select "Select Vehicle" from the software. Choose your vehicle's make and model from the list. Ensure your laptop is charged, and keep a battery charger connected to the vehicle to maintain a voltage of at least 12.7V. When prompted, turn the ignition on without starting the engine (if using push-start, avoid pressing the brake pedal). Click “Generate New Session” and allow the software to read the ECU. This process can take a few minutes — remain patient and avoid opening doors or operating electronics during the process.

4. Create a Support Ticket

After the ECU read is complete, go to Recurve Support Portal and open a support ticket. Under the support portal, select "Tuning Files for Recurve IXI." Provide your email address, full name, and a brief summary of the tuning request. Once submitted, the Recurve team will create a custom tune based on your ECU read. Tuning files are typically delivered within 2 to 3 business hours. You’ll receive an email notification when the files are ready for download.

5. Install the new Tune

Return to the Recurve IXI software and log in. The available tuning files will appear on the left-hand side. Choose the appropriate file — options include Factory Stock, Towing & Touring, Power, Valet, and Balanced tunes. Click “Write File” and follow the instructions. Turn the ignition on, then click “OK” to begin writing. The process will display some error codes on the dashboard — this is normal. Once completed, turn the ignition off and click “OK.” Restart the ignition to confirm installation. The tune is now successfully installed!

Recurve IXI Tuning Module – FAQ

Answers to the most common issues, setup concerns, and best practices for getting the most out of your IXI module.

🔌 Why won’t the software install properly on my computer?

Most installation errors are caused by antivirus software blocking the installer. Disable your antivirus temporarily or create an exclusion for the folder C:\IXI and its .exe files.

🌐 The internet icon is red — how do I fix that?

Windows Firewall may be blocking the IXI app. Add a rule to allow IXI.exe and installer.exe, located in C:\IXI, through your firewall.

🔌 The module isn't being recognised — what now?
  • Check that all cables are securely connected between the OBD-II port, module, and laptop.
  • Restart your computer and reconnect the module.
  • Make sure both USB and Internet icons in the software are green.
💡 Why are error codes showing on the dash while tuning?

This is completely normal. Temporary codes can appear during the ECU writing process. Once complete, turn the ignition off and back on to clear them.

🔋 What voltage does my vehicle need during tuning?

Your battery should be above 12.7V. If your vehicle has accessories like fridges or DC-DC chargers, use a battery charger to keep voltage stable during the process.

🚙 What vehicle do I select for tuning my 70 Series?

Select 200 Series VDJ200 in the IXI software. Either ECU option (275922-092 or 275922-001) will work for the tune.

⚠️ What should I avoid while tuning?
  • Do not let the battery drop below 12.7V.
  • Do not open doors or activate electronics (A/C, fans, fridges, etc.).
  • Do not bump the cable or unplug anything during writing.
  • Do not attempt tuning if the ECU has already been modified or overwritten.

Interruptions during writing may damage your ECU — this is not covered by warranty.

🔁 What happens if a dealer updates my ECU?

Dealer updates can overwrite your custom tune. Always restore your original file before taking your vehicle in. If overwritten, a new tune file must be purchased.

🧯 What safety precautions should I take while tuning?
  • Park on a level surface with the handbrake on.
  • Tune in the shade — laptops can overheat and shut down.
  • Keep clear of engine fans — they may turn on automatically during tuning.
💬 How do I get help or request warranty support?

Visit the Recurve Support Portal to submit a ticket. Include screenshots, logs, and a clear description of the issue.

Your IXI module includes a 12-month warranty for manufacturing defects. Damage from voltage drops, improper use or ECU overwrite is not covered.

Disclaimer Information

Please carefully follow these guidelines and warnings when using the Recurve IXI tuning module:

  1. Battery Requirements: Ensure the vehicle battery is fully charged, 12.7V minimum, before starting. If the battery is older than three years, have it tested by a professional.
  2. Electrical Loads: Turn off headlights, rear window demister, and AC to avoid power fluctuations.
  3. Connection Integrity: To prevent data errors, keep the OBD2 and USB connection secure.
  4. ECU Damage Risk: Any interruption during ECU writing (e.g., power loss) can cause permanent damage. Such damage is not covered under warranty.
  5. ECU Reset: Reload the original file to reset the ECU default state.
  6. Vehicle Servicing: Reload the original software before servicing in a dealership. Avoid software updates from dealers as they will render your tuning files useless and new tuning files need to be created. Additional charges apply.
  7. Software Updates: If a dealer update overwrites your tuning file, the Recurve IXI module may need new setup and new session, which is not covered under warranty. Additional charges apply.
